June 12, 2016

Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Room 118,

It feels like just yesterday I was sitting at my desk writing 21 welcome to second grade postcards, and here I am 9 months later typing my final blog update of the school year! I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone! Time truly does fly when you are having fun!

To the parents of Room 118, I cannot thank you enough for all of your help, support and generosity this year. So many of the activities, field trips and presentations that we participated in this year would not have been possible without your support! I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to get to know you and to teach your child this year. Thank you for entrusting and sharing them with me.

To my students, I do not know where to begin! What a fabulous year we have shared together! As I think back to the beginning of the school year, I can’t believe how hard you have all worked and how incredibly proud you have made me as your teacher. I am so proud of the wonderful choices you have made this year and the amazing accomplishments you have achieved. You are so ready to begin this next chapter of your journey in school, third grade is waiting! I will miss each and every one of you very much but always know that I am here for you whenever you may need me. Thank you so much for a wonderful school year filled with so many fantastic moments and memories. I know that I will be hearing so many amazing things about each and every one of you in the future. Keep reading, keep learning, keep smiling and keep having fun! I hope you all enjoy a peaceful and restful summer vacation! I can’t wait to see you in the fall!

With Love,
Mrs. Jill Arnold :)

T-Shirt Book Report!
We will be completing a T-shirt book report in school this week! If possible, children are asked to bring in a plain, white or light colored t-shirt that they can decorate for this very special project! We are also looking for donations of Sharpies or fabric markers that we could use for this activity! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions! Thank you so much in advance for your help with this exciting project!

Working hard to research vertebrates in science!

Stay in Touch This Summer!
Please feel free to email me during the summer or next year! I love staying in touch with my former second grade friends and their families! Students are more than welcome to send me friendly messages using our classroom website! I am only a mouse click away!

Report Cards
Report cards will be coming home with your child on the last day of school! Celebrate all that your child has accomplished this year and how far they have come! I am so proud of the progress each student has made!

Exploring balancing in our science unit on force and motion!

Prevent the “Summer Slide”!
Each student has made so much progress this year! Encourage your child to sustain and build on that growth by reading and practicing their math facts! Practicing these skills is easy to do and does not require a great deal of time! Have your child bring a book or their math flashcards in the car on the way to a vacation or just to the pool! Just a few minutes a week will help your child to sustain their skills and prevent the summer slide!

We had so much fun on our field trip to the IMAX Theater and Bird Park!
