I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend! We are officially in the “home stretch” of our journey together! There are so many fun and exciting events and activities as the end of the year quickly approaches! I look forward to our final weeks together in second grade!
The children did such a wonderful job during our concert on Friday! :)
T-Shirt Book Report
We will be completing a T-shirt book report in school! If possible, children are asked to bring in a plain, white or light colored t-shirt that they can decorate for this very special project! We will be decorating on Friday, June 9th so if children could bring in their shirts before then that would be fantastic! We are also looking for donations of Sharpies or fabric markers that we could use for this activity! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions! Thank you so much in advance for your help with this exciting project!
This week we finished our butterfly journals and watched the life cycle of a butterfly in elapsed time through a Discovery Education video!
Literacy
This week in Literacy we will be reading the piece, Cowboys by Lucille Recht Penner. Through reading this piece we will discuss the weekly question, “Why should we learn about cowboys?” This week we will also be reviewing the genre of Narrative Nonfiction and will be reading and spelling words with suffixes -ness and -less. We will use graphic organizers to demonstrate our understandings of what we read as well as explore the comprehension skill of cause and effect.
