Room 114's Classroom Blog! : November 17, 2018

It’s hard to believe that we will be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday this week! Time is really flying by! The children have been working so hard! I am so proud of all they have accomplished in just a few short months. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to work with your amazing children each and every day! Room 118 is truly a special place to learn, work, and grow. I hope you enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you so much for all that you do! 🦃

Room 118 is Celebrating! 🎉
On Friday, we filled up our 10 frames for the second time! After an extensive brainstorming session and a nail-biting vote, our class decided to celebrate with a Pajama, Movie and Stuffed Animal Day! Children are invited to wear their pajamas and bring a stuffed animal to school this Wednesday, November, 21st! Students are also encouraged to bring any G-rated movies from home that they might like to watch! I am so proud of our class for continuing to work so hard! Keep the amazing job everyone! 👍

This week we began to edit the stories that we have been working SO hard on during our writer's workshop! Ask your child what their story is all about and the stages of the writing process to see what they are learning! ✏

Literacy 📚
Due to the short week, I will not be starting a new story with the children. Rather, we will take this week to review many of the important literacy concepts we have been learning about in our second unit of stories.

Math ✏
In math this week we will begin to learn about mental addition strategies!

Playing the game, "Password" to practice our weekly vocabulary words! 👍

Learning how to draw different characters during Indoor Recess with the website, Art For Kids Hub! 🎨

Social Studies 🌎
This week in Social Studies we will be discussing the very important holiday of Thanksgiving and will be reflecting on the many things we have to be thankful for!

The children have been working SO hard to earn their daily pennies for great effort and behavior and on Friday all of their hard work paid off with our very first classroom store of the year! Keep up the fabulous work everyone! 💰

Putting forth our best effort to make a book for our latest Star Student! 🌟

On Friday, we explored a new reading website called Epic! We will be using this amazing resource during our Daily 5 Workshop time! Be on the lookout for more information about Epic coming home with you child on Monday! 💻
