March 30, 2019

It's hard to believe that Monday is the first day of April! My fingers are crossed that warm, sunny spring weather is just around the corner! I look forward to another wonderful week of learning fun in Room 118! 💮

We continue to build our Growth Mindsets! 👍

Literacy 📚
This week in Literacy we will be reading the story, One Dark Night by Hazel Hutchins. Through reading this story we will continue to answer the unit question, “What does it mean to be responsible?” We will also address the weekly question, “Why should we take care of animals?” This week in literacy we will also be reviewing the genre of Realistic Fiction, reading words with prefixes un-, re-, pre- and dis-, applying the comprehension strategy of context clues, sequencing the events of a story and using graphic organizers to organize our ideas while reading and writing. If your child would like to practice our weekly spelling words using the Spelling City website, click here!

Trying out a new Morning Meeting greeting with Miss Ahearn! 🐻

Math ✏
This week in math we will continue to practice 3 digit subtraction and will also explore the geometry concepts presented in the 12th unit of our math program!

Light It Up Blue 💡
In support of Autism Awareness, students are invited to wear the color blue on Tuesday, April 2nd! Thank you for helping to LIGHT IT UP BLUE at Boyden School!

Thank you to Anna's aunt and Maggie's mom for being Mystery Readers in our classroom last week! 📗

🌟Star Student🌟
Congratulations to this week's Star Student, Hayleigh! We loved learning more about Hayleigh from her All About Me poster and from the pictures and objects that she brought in from home! Keep up the awesome work Hayleigh! You are such an important and valued member of our Room 118 family! ❤
