November 9, 2019

I hope everyone is having a great long weekend! Happy Veterans Day to any veterans in our Room 118 family! ❤💙❤

In writing, we continue to write nonfiction chapter books! ✏

Using our gel boards in Fundations to practice trick words!

Playing a game in Fundations to practice reading two-syllable words!

Social Studies 🌎
In Social Studies this past week we learned all about the very important holiday of Veterans Day. Students had many great stories to share about the veterans in their lives and were asked to thank a veteran for their contributions and service to our country! We also made cards for the very special veterans that we know!

We continue to work on our "If I Built a School" project with Mrs. Carroll and Mrs. Moses! Ask your child what part of the school they were assigned to design this week and who their designing partner is!

Focusing on our feelings this week in our daily read alouds! 📚

As we come to the end of our reading unit on nonfiction texts, we are celebrating all that we have learned by being tour guides of a nonfiction book! Be on the lookout for your child's tour guide video coming to Seesaw soon! 💻

This week in our guidance lesson with Mrs. Tilton, we talked about ways that we can care for our mind, body and heart!

Thursday was Read for the Record and everyone participating read the book Thank You, Omu by Oge Mora! Read for the Record celebrates the power of reading! By reading the same book, all across the country, Read for the Record hopes to bring attention to early literacy and language skills! 📙

Our first Star Student books went home this week! 🎉

🌟Star Student🌟
Congratulations to our Star Student this week, Ethan! We loved learning more about Ethan from his All About Me poster and from the pictures that he brought from home! Keep up the awesome work Ethan! You are such an important and valued member of our Room 118 family!
