Writing "All About the Author" chapters for our Nonfiction chapter books! ✍

Science
In science over the last few weeks we have been exploring the properties of matter! This science unit develops the idea that by taking advantage of the properties of materials, we can solve many problems in our lives. Students developed an appreciation for the man-made materials of everyday objects, and learned to recognize that those materials are chosen based on their properties. Through hands-on investigations, students explored the material properties involved in meeting basic needs (such as clothing and cooking). They considered the solid and liquid states of matter to understand why plastic was invented. This week we ended our unit with a brainstorming activity about futuristic inventions that might be possible using new materials!

Making our "bouncy glass" invention posters! 🔍

Building paper towers to examine how large structures like houses are built from smaller pieces! 🏠

Biff has been having a blast making his home visits! We can't wait to hear about all the fun that he has during his extended stay with Harrison and his family over the next few weeks! #nopressure! 🐕

🌟Star Student🌟
Congratulations to this week's Star Student, Joanna! We loved learning more about Joanna from her All About Me poster and from the pictures that she brought in from home! Keep up the awesome work Joanna! You are such an important and valued member of our Room 118 family! ❤
