Halloween Fun!
Thank you SO much to Mr. Aslakson, Mrs. Aslakson, Mrs. Barossi, Mrs. Farley, Mrs. Morris, and Mrs. Shaughnessy for helping to throw us a fantastic Halloween celebration last week! We had so much fun making Halloween paintings, creating our very own masks, designing spooky Halloween foam creatures and playing an exciting game of Halloween bingo! We so greatly appreciate all of your time and effort! Thank you!!! :)
Parent/Teacher Conferences
It was so wonderful meeting and chatting with you last week during parent/teacher conferences! While official conference time has ended, please do not hesitate to contact me anytime with questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress. I can be reached by telephone at extension 1118, by note or by email (jarnold@walpole.k12.ma.us)! Thank you!!!
Be a Star...Read!
Thank you SO much for your fantastic participation in this year’s reading incentive program! What a wonderful job each student did! I am so proud of the reading effort put forth! While the reading incentive has ended, students are still encouraged to read as often as possible! Keep up the wonderful work! :)
Enrichment Activities
A brand new page has been added to our classroom website and it is called “Enrichment Activities”! There you will find links to websites that have enrichment activities that support our second grade curriculum! These activities are great for students who may finish homework early in the week and are looking for an additional challenge! The completion of activities on this page is completely optional! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!
Math
This week in math we will finish our short unit on working with equal groups by exploring and building arrays and computing number sentences that use repeated addition!
Literacy
This week in Literacy we will be reading the story, Ronald Morgan Goes to Bat by Patricia Reilly Giff. Through reading this story we will continue to discuss the unit question, “How can we work together?” We will also discuss the weekly question, “What makes a team?” This week we will also be reviewing the genre of Realistic Fiction, learning about contractions, identifying realism and fantasy and applying prior knowledge to the texts we are reading.
Star of the Week!
Congratulations to Spencer who was our Star of the Week last week! We loved learning more about Spencer through her All About Me poster and pictures! Keep up the awesome work Spence! :)
