December 20, 2015

Each child in Room 118 has worked so hard in 2015! I am amazed and incredibly proud of how much we have learned and grown since September! It is truly a pleasure to work with your children every day! It is hard to believe that we are getting ready to celebrate the holidays already! I hope everyone enjoys a happy, safe and relaxing holiday and vacation! See you in 2016! :)

Homework
Due to a very short week we will not be having homework or a spelling test this week!

We had so much fun at the 4th grade Hoe Down on Friday! :)

Holiday Traditions Project
Last week we began to use the Holiday Celebrations graphic organizers completed at home to write all about how our families celebrate the holidays! The children are doing a wonderful job of sharing their special holiday traditions! We will finish and share our writing this week! We will also begin to discuss how holiday traditions have changed over the years by using the family letters that we have received so far! Thank you so much for all of your help and support with this very special project!

Literacy
This week in Literacy we will be reviewing concepts presented in our third unit of stories! We will continue to discuss what it means to be creative and how to communicate using various methods!

Math
I am so incredibly impressed with how well each student has done in mastering the concepts presented in Topic 7 of our math curriculum! Applying mental subtraction strategies can be very tricky but the children have demonstrated wonderful progress with this skill! This week we will participate in holiday themed problem solving activities! We will begin Topic 8 after vacation!

Star Student
Congratulations to Gaby who was our Star Student last week! We loved learning more about Gaby from her All About Me poster and from the pictures that she brought from home! Keep up the amazing work Gaby! :)
