March 19, 2016

What a busy week last week in Room 118! We celebrated St.Patrick's Day, had 3 Mystery Readers and enjoyed a visit from the Desk Fairy! I look forward to another eventful week in Room 118! :)

Leprechaun footprints were spotted on St. Patrick's Day in Room 118!

Miss Verbic and I even got in on a little St. Patrick's Day fun!!!

We had a secret visit from the Desk Fairy on Monday night! Ask your child if they received a pencil for having a nice, clean desk!

Literacy
In Literacy this week we will not be starting a new story as we will be participating in a unit on biographies! Therefore, we will not be learning a new phonics rule this week and will not have a spelling test on Friday. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions that you may have!

A few friends sharing their "Guess My Animal" projects! Students had to write a paragraph using specific details to describe an animal. The class then tried to guess if they could figure out each animal!

Math
This week in math we will continue to practice adding 3-digit numbers. This can be a very challenging skill for many second graders so please don't panic if your child still seems a little unsure of the process. We will be spending lots of time on this concept in school this week!

Trying out our new Versa Tile math center!

A few friends cashed in their "eat lunch in the classroom coupons" that they bought last week at our classroom store! Keep earning those pennies! :)

Mystery Readers!
Thank you so much to Mr. McKeen, Natalee, Mrs. Le, and Mr. Shaughnessy for being Mystery Readers in our classroom this week! We had so much fun! :)

Star Student!
Congratulations to Abbey who was our Star Student last week! We loved learning more about Abbey from her All About Me poster and from the pictures that she brought from home! Keep up the amazing work Abbey! :)
