Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Room 118 had so much fun on Wednesday celebrating the birthday of the iconic children’s book author Dr. Seuss! Celebrating Dr. Seuss and his great work was such a treat, Wednesday turned out to be a day that will be hard to beat! Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Literacy
This week in Literacy we will be reading the story, I Like Where I am by Jessica Harper. We will continue to discuss the unit questions, “How do things change? How do they stay the same?” We will also discuss the weekly question, “Why are some changes difficult?” This week in Literacy we will also learn about the genre of Narrative Poem, review diphthongs oi and oy, apply the strategies of context clues and summarizing while reading and discover more about the comprehension skills of determining theme and plot.
Celebrating Dr. Seuss' Birthday with a "Read in"! The hallways of Boyden School were lined with enthusiastic readers! :)
Math
In math we continue to learn and apply place value concepts! This week we will be identifying number patterns on a hundred chart, skip counting by 5, 10, 100 to 1,000, comparing and ordering numbers and problem solving by looking for patterns!
To complement our reading anthology text, we learned all about frogs last week in computer lab and even completed a frog project!
Mystery Reader!
Thank you to Mrs. Garrigan and Ms. Peters for being Mystery Readers in our classroom this week! We had so much fun! :)
Star Student!
Congratulations to Thomas who was our Star Student last week! We loved learning more about Thomas from his All About Me poster and from the pictures that he brought from home! Keep up the amazing work Thomas! :)
