The Scholastic Book order for the month of February was placed a few weeks ago and should be arriving to Boyden sometime this week!

Literacy
This week in Literacy we will be reading the text, Frogs by Gail Gibbons. Through reading this text we will continue to address the unit questions, “How do things change? How do they stay the same?” We will discuss the weekly question, “How do animals change as they grow?” This week we will also review the genre of Expository Nonfiction, practice reading and spelling words with diphthongs ow and ou, apply the comprehension skill of compare and contrast and learn more about word structure and graphic organizers.
Math
This week in math we will continue to explore concepts centered around place value to 1,000. We will be adding and subtracting multiples of 10 or 100 to and from a three-digit number without regrouping, finding, identifying and applying number patterns to numbers on a hundred chart, skip counting by 5. 10, 100 to 1,000 and comparing three-digit numbers using the symbols <, = and >.
Social Studies
We will be taking our Social Studies quiz on the 7 continents this week! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! :)
Science
Last week we started our Science unit on plants after reading the text, Life Cvcle of a Pumpkin! We planted pumpkin and tomato seeds and are hoping to observe the life cycle of these two plants first hand! Ask your child to tell you the four things a plant needs to survive! (Hint-air, water, soil, light and time)!
Mystery Reader!
Thank you to Mrs. Barossi and Mrs. Tyszka for being Mystery Readers in our classroom this week! We had so much fun! :)
Star Student!
Congratulations to Adriana who was our Star Student last week! We loved learning more about Adriana from her All About Me poster and from the pictures that she brought from home! Keep up the amazing work Adriana! :)
