Exploring with floam in our new Daily 5 Word Work activity!
Parent/Teacher Conferences
It's hard to believe that next week begins parent/teacher conferences! The online conference scheduler opened last week and will be active until the end of this week! If you are unable to make any of the time slots still available, please contact me as soon as possible! I'd be more than happy to meet during a time that is convenient for you! I look forward to conferencing with you soon! :)
Literacy
This week we will be reading the story, The Strongest One. This is the last story in our first unit of study! We will finish discussing the unit question, “What can we learn from exploring new places and things?” We will also review the phonics skill of consonant digraphs!
Thank you so much to Mrs. Pacillo for presenting our very first Docent lesson of the year on Wednesday! We loved learning about different types of sculptures and had so much fun creating art pieces of our own! We can't wait to apply all that we learned when we go on our field trip this Friday!
Elect to Read!
The students in Room 118 continued to do fantastic reading last week as part of our school wide reading incentive, Elect to Read! This upcoming week marks our third week of the contest! Our goal is to have 100% participation and for all reading logs to come back to school on Friday! Keep up the great work!
Math
This week we will continue to review subtraction strategies as presented in our third topic of study! Children will practice how to think addition to 10 and 18 to subtract, how to make a 10 to subtract and how to answer two-question problems.
Star Student
Congratulations to Maeve who was our very first "Star Student" of the year! It was wonderful to learn more about Maeve through her All About Me poster! We loved seeing the pictures and artwork that she brought from home! Keep up the great work Maeve! :)
