October 30, 2016

I hope that everyone is having a great weekend! It looks to be another busy week in Room 118 with Halloween on Monday and our field trip on Friday! I hope you have a great week and enjoy a happy and safe Halloween!

Our Field Trip
Our field trip to Decordova Sculpture Museum is this Friday! If your child has not yet returned their permission slip please have them do so ASAP so that they will be able to join us! Crossing my fingers for beautiful weather and no chance of lightening this time around!

Elect to Read!
Thank you SO much for your fantastic participation in this year’s reading incentive program! What a wonderful job each student did! I am so proud of the reading effort put forth! While the reading incentive has ended, students are still encouraged to read as often as possible! Keep up the wonderful work! :)

"Turning and Talking" during our daily Number Talks lesson!

Math
This week in math we will finish our short unit on working with equal groups by exploring and building arrays and computing number sentences that use repeated addition!

Making our own arrays in math!

Literacy
This week in Literacy we will be reading the story, Ronald Morgan Goes to Bat by Patricia Reilly Giff. Through reading this story we will continue to discuss the unit question, “How can we work together?” We will also discuss the weekly question, “What makes a team?” This week we will also be reviewing the genre of Realistic Fiction, learning about contractions, identifying realism and fantasy and applying prior knowledge to the texts we are reading. Due to a busy week this week and a short week next week, we will be stretching this story out over the next two weeks! We will take our weekly spelling pretest on Tuesday, November 1st and will have our spelling test on Thursday, November 10th! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!

Using iPads in our Technology Guided Math Center!

Star of the Week!
Congratulations to Kayla who was last weeks Star of the Week! We loved learning all about Kayla through her "All About Me" poster and pictures that she brought in from home! Keep up the fabulous job Kayla! :)
