I hope that everyone is having a great weekend! I look forward to another fabulous week in Room 118!
Holiday Traditions Projects
What a wonderful job the children have done completing their holiday traditions projects! The ginger breads that I have received so far look fantastic and are so creative! This week in school we will use the graphic organizers completed at home to write about how we celebrate the holidays! This week we will also begin to discuss how holiday traditions have changed over the years by using the family letters that we have received so far! Thank you so much for all of your help and support with this very special project! :)

Math
This week in math we will begin Topic 7 which focuses on mental subtraction strategies. We will be learning how to subtract tens, find parts of 100, subtract on a hundred chart and subtract multiples of 10.
Gifts for Kids
Thank you so much for sending in items for the Gifts for Kids program! The response was incredible! It's hard to believe that all of the ornaments are already gone from our "Giving Tree"! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!
Writing
This week in writing we learned all about how to create an interesting story beginning! We also discovered that using the words "go" and "went" in our writing can be a little boring! We researched and practiced more interesting verbs to describe how characters in the stories we create can move! Check out the pictures below to see our "spicy" verbs in action and ask your child what the words "dillydallied" and "sashayed" mean to see all that they learned!
Practicing adding two-digit numbers by making a snowman "craftivity"! Ask your child what strategy they would use to add 42 + 38 and see all that they have learned!
