I hope that everyone is having a fabulous weekend! I look forward to another fantastic week of learning fun in Room 118! :)
Thinking spring in computer lab this week!
Parent/Teacher Conferences
It was so nice to meet with you during Parent/Teacher conferences! While official conference time is over, please never hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your child! Thank you so much for your continued support! :)
Literacy
In Literacy we will be starting our fifth unit of stories which will focus around the essential question, “What does it mean to be responsible?” This week we will be reading the piece, Firefighters! by Angela Royston. Through reading this story we will discuss the weekly question, “Why is it important to do a good job?” We will also review the genre of Narrative Nonfiction, learn about suffixes –ly, -ful, -er, -or, and apply the comprehension skill of identifying the main idea and supporting details of a text.
Last week we started biography projects in school! The children did a fantastic job of using a text to research a very important person from history! Ask your child to tell you who they are researching in school and what fun facts they have learned from their biographies!
Math
In math this week we will finish our unit on geometry by using clues to solve riddles about plane shapes and solid figures! We will then begin our next topic of study which will focus on counting money! Throughout this chapter we will continue to work on applying our three-digit addition and subtraction strategies!
