September 9, 2017

The last 6 days of second grade in Room 118 have been fantastic! The children have quickly settled into our routines and expectations! I am so proud of each and every child for putting forth their best effort! We have a very busy and exciting week coming up! We will be starting our literacy curriculum and continuing with our math, science and writing programs! I look forward to our first full week of school together! :)

 Meet Miss Verbic!
We are so very lucky to have Miss Jessica Verbic working in our classroom this year as an Educational Support Professional! Miss Verbic joined the Boyden family two years ago after she graduated from college with a degree in Elementary Education! We are so very lucky to have her in our Room 118 family!

Shhhhhhh!!!!! It’s a Surprise!
If possible, please help your child choose a shirt to send in for a project we will be working on for Open House! Long sleeved shirts work best! All shirts will be returned unharmed after Open House is over! Thanks for your help!

Classroom scavenger hunt on the first day of school!

Behavior Management
Information about the behavior management systems we utilize in our classroom was sent home with your child last week! Please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions you may have regarding the management systems described.

We are already working SO hard!

Filling our book bags with lots of awesome books!

Getting energized with GoNoodle! Ask your child what their favorite GoNoodle activity is that we've done so far!

This week we read, Dream Big a story about Michael Jordan and his journey to becoming one of the best basketball players of all time! After reading this book, we began to brainstorm our own hopes and dreams for second grade! Ask your child what their goals are for this school year and what they need to do to make those dreams come true!

Working together to play the, "Yarn Game" in morning meeting!

Using Chromebooks in math!

Go Pats!

On Friday, our class participated in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Tallest Cup Tower Challenge! We had so much fun building and experimenting! This was also a great opportunity for us to work together and get to know each other! Great work everybody! :)
