March 31, 2018

It's hard to believe that tomorrow is the first day of April! My fingers are crossed that warm, sunny spring weather is just around the corner! I look forward to another wonderful week of learning fun in Room 118! 💮

Leo loved coming to Room 118 on Tuesday and meeting all of the children! 👶

Mr. Arnold had a great visit too!

Light It Up Blue 💡
In support of Autism Awareness, students are invited to wear the color blue on Monday, April 2nd! Thank you for helping to LIGHT IT UP BLUE at Boyden School!

During our visit with Mr. Leary this week, students learned and then acted out how to apologize when they have made a mistake! We learned that a sincere apology involves saying what we are specifically sorry for and how we will fix it!

Working on Google Slide research projects!

On Friday we had so much fun working with Mrs. Carroll to try out some new equipment! Stay tuned for the amazing pictures we took during this time coming to a blog update soon!

Literacy
In Literacy we will be starting our fifth unit of stories which will focus around the essential question, “What does it mean to be responsible?” This week we will be reading the piece, Firefighters! by Angela Royston. Through reading this story we will discuss the weekly question, “Why is it important to do a good job?” We will also review the genre of Narrative Nonfiction, learn about suffixes –ly, -ful, -er, -or, and apply the comprehension skill of identifying the main idea and supporting details of a text.

Spelling City Link
This week our spelling words revolve around the suffixes -ly, -ful, -er, and -or. Students can practice their spelling words through the Spelling City website by clicking here.

Last week we started biography projects in school! The children did a fantastic job of using a text to research a very important person from history! Ask your child to tell you who they are researching in school and what fun facts they have learned from their biographies!

Math Highlights!

Reviewing place value with a "I Have, Who Has" game! Ask your child how you play this game to see what they have learned!

Greater Than, Less Than GoNoodle!
