Practicing our weekly vocabulary words with a fun game called Splish Splash! 🌊

Biography Reports
Tomorrow your child will come home with information about our biography reports! The children have been so excited and enthusiastic about this very special project! This assignment uses many of the same resources that students used in the classroom to complete their first biography projects but allows students to pick a person from history that they would like to research! Most students were able to find a book in school to use for this project but a few children were interested in people we did not have books for. Those students are more than welcome to complete their research using the computer or other outside resources! If your child selected a person that we do not have a book for and you would like them to pick a person we do have books for please let me know! Please do not hesitate to contact me if your child is having a difficult time completing this assignment or if you have any questions! Thank you so much for your continued support and assistance! I can’t wait to see the final products!

There's nothing better than some science fun on a Friday afternoon! Ask your child how a tree could travel halfway around the world to see what they learned from this experiment! 🌎

Social Studies
I am beyond impressed with the amount of time, effort and energy students put forth to learn the continents, oceans, rivers and lakes of the world! If your child did not do as well as they had hoped on our Social Studies quiz, I will be providing them with an opportunity to retake the assessment on Friday, May 25th. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!

This week Mrs. Carroll helped us to organize our Google Drives and showed us how to make All About Me posters with Google Painting!

Literacy
In Literacy we will be starting our sixth unit of stories, which will focus around the essential question, “How are traditions and celebrations important to our lives?” This week we will be reading the story, Just Like Josh Gibson by Angela Johnson. Through reading this story we will discuss the weekly question, “Why are sports important to our country?” This week we will also be reviewing the genre of Realistic Fiction and contractions. We will apply context clues while reading as well as explore the comprehension skills of comparing and contrasting and visualizing.

Spelling City

The story we read this past week, The Signmaker's Assistant had a very important message and theme! Ask your child about our "paper experiment" and what we learned about the impact of our words and actions!

T-Shirt Book Report!
We will be completing a T-shirt book report in school! If possible, children are asked to bring in a plain, white or light colored t-shirt that they can decorate for this very special project! We will be decorating on Friday, June 8th so if children could bring in their shirts before then that would be fantastic! We are also looking for donations of Sharpies or fabric markers that we could use for this activity! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions! Thank you so much in advance for your help with this exciting project!

Shopping at our class store on Wednesday! Keep earning those pennies! 👍
Math
This week in math we will continue to explore the concepts presented in Topics 13 and 14 of our math curriculum! We will practice adding money, subtracting money and estimating sums and differences!

Math problem solving!
