Happy Saturday! I must apologize in advance for the lack of videos and pictures on the blog this week! I was out quite a bit this week battling Hand, Foot and Mouth with Leo and then the stomach bug! This being a parent thing really is as hard as people say it is! 😂I promise to make up for the limited pictures with a blog update chock full of fun next week! 🙂👍

Social Studies

Social studies quiz make-ups will be this Friday, May 25th. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!

Despite being out for most of the week, we did manage to learn a new greeting in Morning Meeting! Ask your child to tell you all about our new "Beach Ball Greeting" and what skill they had to practice while participating!

Literacy 

This week in Literacy we will be reading the story, Red, White and Blue by John Herman. Through reading this story we will continue to discuss the unit question, “How are traditions and celebrations important to our lives?” We will also discuss the weekly question, “What does our flag mean?” This week we will also be reviewing the genre of Narrative Nonfiction and the phonics skill of inflected endings, applying strategies to aide in our comprehension of a text and determining the difference between facts and opinions. We will have a spelling test on Friday! Please do not forget to practice!

T-Shirt Book Report! 

We will be completing a T-shirt book report in school! If possible, children are asked to bring in a plain, white or light colored t-shirt that they can decorate for this very special project! We will be decorating on Friday, June 8th so if children could bring in their shirts before then that would be fantastic! We are also looking for donations of Sharpies or fabric markers that we could use for this activity! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions! Thank you so much in advance for your help with this exciting project! 

Math

This week in math we will continue to explore the concepts presented in Topic 14 of our math curriculum! We will practice adding money, subtracting money and estimating sums and differences!
