June 16, 2018

Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Room 118,

It feels like just yesterday I was sitting at my desk writing 20 welcome to second grade postcards (7 months pregnant 🀣), and here I am 9 months later (with a 7 month old baby on my lap πŸ‘Ά) typing my final blog update of the school year! I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone! Time truly does fly when you are having fun!

To the parents of Room 118, I cannot thank you enough for all of your help, support and generosity this year. So many of the activities, field trips and presentations that we participated in this year would not have been possible without your support! I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to get to know you and to teach your child this year. Thank you for entrusting and sharing them with me. I will love your child always.

To my students, I do not know where to begin! What a fabulous year we have shared together! As I think back to the beginning of the school year, I can’t believe how hard you have all worked and how incredibly proud you have made me as your teacher. I am so proud of the wonderful choices you have made this year and the amazing accomplishments you have achieved. You are so ready to begin this next chapter of your journey in school, third grade is waiting! I will miss each and every one of you very much but always know that I am here for you whenever you may need me. The door to Room 118 is always open to you. Thank you so much for a wonderful school year filled with so many fantastic moments and memories. I am so thankful for each one of you because when I teach, I also learn. This past year we have grown so much together. A little bit of each of you will always be with me. I know that I will be hearing so many amazing things about each and every one of you in the future. Keep reading, keep learning, keep smiling and keep having fun! Always strive to be the BEST that you can be because you are ⭐AmAzInG!⭐ I hope you all enjoy a peaceful and restful summer vacation! I can’t wait to see you in the fall!

With Love,
❤ Jill (A.K.A Mrs. Arnold) ❤

What an incredible last full week of school we had in Room 118! We had a blast participating in Spirit Week, finally got to have our Slime Celebration for filling our bead jar and loved the Rhythm Room presentation we had on Friday! We hope you enjoy the pictures and videos of our very special week below!

πŸ’»Room 118 Family Survey
I cannot thank you enough for responding so quickly to the Room 118 Family Survey that I sent out a few weeks ago! I know that it is SUCH a busy time of year so to take the time to share your thoughts with me is so greatly appreciated! Your honest feedback and insights are so incredibly valuable and will help me to improve and to be the best possible teacher that I can be! If you have not yet filled out a survey and would like me to resend the link please don't hesitate to let me know! Thank you so much again!

Taking a "Gallery Walk" to see how each student applied all that we learned through our Docent presentation on the famous artist Homer!

Money Math Glyphs!

What Does the Clock Say?!

Sharing the Google Slide presentations we made about American landmarks! Ask your child to tell you what they learned through their research! They can also log onto their google accounts at home and show you their presentations!

Thank you to Mrs. Carroll for letting us explore with the new technology tool, Osmos!

Flashlight Friday!

Slime Celebration!

Thank you to the Boyden Pac for bringing us the Rhythm Room on Friday!

Stay in Touch This Summer!
Please feel free to email me during the summer or next year! I love staying in touch with my former second grade friends and their families! Students are more than welcome to send me friendly messages using our classroom website! I am only a mouse click away! πŸ‘

Progress Reports
Progress Reports will be coming home with your child on the last day of school! Celebrate all that your child has accomplished this year and how far they have come! I am so proud of the progress each student has made!

We were SO excited on Flag Day to share the flags we made a few weeks ago when we read the piece, Red, White and Blue with our kindergarten friends in Mrs. Buchanio's Class! 🚩

Ask your child about, "The Case of the Missing Mascot"!

Prevent the “Summer Slide”!
Each student has made so much progress this year! Encourage your child to sustain and build on that growth by reading and practicing their math facts! Practicing these skills is easy to do and does not require a great deal of time! Have your child bring a book or math flashcards in the car on the way to a vacation or just to the pool! Just a few minutes a week will help your child to sustain their skills and prevent the summer slide! I will be sending a packet of materials and resources for your child to use this summer to keep their skills sharp in their report card envelopes on Wednesday! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!
