🏈 Go Pats! 🏈
This week in math we will continue to learn and practice strategies for adding two, two-digit numbers! The children did a fantastic job last week applying the partial sums strategy that we learned! Ask your child to show you this very helpful method!
Making partial sums posters to share our understandings! 👍
We had a few very special "teachers" review the partial sums strategy during our math mini lesson this week!
In Literacy this week we will read the story, Rosa and Blanca by Joe Hayes. We will continue to discuss the unit question, “What does it mean to be creative?” and will discuss the weekly question, “When can creative ideas solve problems?” We will also review the genre of Realistic Fiction, learn about long i (i, ie, igh, y), apply the comprehension skill of theme and plot and discuss the comprehension strategy of prediction. If your child would like to practice our weekly spelling words using the Spelling City website, please click here!
Social Studies
This week in Social Studies we continued to learn all about where we live and began to explore the continents and oceans of the world! Ask your child to tell you the many places that they live to see all that they have learned so far! 🌎
The chilly weather we had this week gave us the perfect opportunity to have a little quiet time on the beach! 🏖
We started our second writing unit this week, which will focus on personal narratives! The students brainstormed a few topics that they could write about and shared with a friend! ✏
Biff was SO excited to make his first home visit this weekend! We can't wait to hear about all the fun that he had! 🐶
🌟Star Student🌟
Congratulations to this week's Star Student, Jameson! We loved learning more about Jameson from his All About Me poster and from the pictures and objects that he brought in from home! Keep up the awesome work Jameson! You are such an important and valued member of our Room 118 family! ❤
