It was another busy week in Room 118! The days truly fly by when you are having fun! I look forward to seeing you soon for Parent/Teacher conferences! 😊

Literacy 📚

This week we will finish up our fourth unit of study in our literacy program by reading the story, Helen Keller and the Big Storm by Patricia Lakin. We will conclude our discussion of the unit questions, “How do things change? How do they stay the same?” We will discuss the weekly question, “How do changes in the weather affect us?” In literacy this week we will also review the genre of Narrative Nonfiction, apply vowels oo, ue, ew, and ui to our reading and spelling, practice applying the strategies of context clues and asking questions and discriminating between facts and opinions. Math ✏

In math this week we will continue to practice adding and subtracting three-digit numbers! We will also learn and practice the facts included in the 15's fact family!

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of our very first Mystery Reader of the school year! 😃

Last week during our guidance lesson with Mrs. Tilton, we discussed the importance of expected behavior and how our behavior contributes to the thoughts that people have about us. We also focused on our individual school and social smarts. Thank you for a wonderful lesson Mrs. Tilton! 

Last week we learned all about the Global March Book Madness Book Competition and participated in the first round of voting! Ask your child about this project and the books included to see what they have learned so far! 📚
