March 13, 2022

It was another busy and fun week in Room 118! We continued to learn about the power of water in science, celebrated all of our hard work in Writer's Workshop with a poetry cafe, and explored a few new genres in Reader's Workshop with a "book tasting"! I look forward to another wonderful and memorable week in second grade! πŸ˜€

To support our work in Reader's and Writer's Workshop, we have started to read Traditional Tales during our daily read alouds! On Monday we read the classic tale, "The Three Little Pigs"!

On Tuesday we read, "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs!" for read aloud!

We read, "No Lie, Pigs (and Their Houses) Can Fly!" on Thursday for our read aloud!

We continue to work on our measurement skills in math! πŸ“

Publishing our poetry books in Writer's Workshop! ✏

In science this week we answered the question, "Can you prevent a landslide?" Ask your child if they were able to prevent a landslide during our experiment and how they did it!

On Wednesday our Math Coach Miss Conway, helped us to collect data and graph it on a line plot using a really cool new piece of technology! Thank you for an awesome lesson Miss Conway! We had a blast!

More science experiment fun!

On Thursday we celebrated all of our hard work in Writer's Workshop with a Poetry Cafe celebration to wrap up this fun unit of study!

On Friday we learned a bit more about the book genres of mysteries and comics with a Scholastic News article and a "book tasting"!
