September 3, 2022

The first 2 days of first grade in Room 114 were INCREDIBLE! The children have quickly settled into our routines and expectations! I am so proud of each and every child for putting forth their best effort! We have a very busy and exciting week coming up! We will be starting our phonics, reading, writing and math programs! I look forward to our 4 day week together! 😊 #bestyearever! #partyanimalsinroom114!

Happy New (school) Year! 🎊

During our first two days together we started to learn, discuss and practice the expectations and procedures in our classroom. The children did a fantastic job! πŸ‘

On Wednesday we made All About Us key chains or bracelets to learn more about each other! Ask your child what each bead on their key chain or bracelet represents! πŸ”‘

Getting to know our classmates better through play!

Rocking Quiet Time!

Room 114 scavenger hunt!

Our read alouds this week focused on welcoming the children into our classroom and building our Room 118 class family! ❤ #allarewelcome

There's nothing like ending the second day of school with a getting to know you snowball fight! Ask your child about what was written on our snowballs and how we used them to get to know each other a bit better! ❄

Our first two days together were a HUGE success! πŸ‘

Reader's Workshop πŸ“š
This week in Reader's Workshop we will start to talk about how readers take a sneak peek to get ready to read. We will also discuss how when readers finish a book they do something. This could mean stopping and remembering the book, looking back and thinking the book over, telling someone about the book or going back to favorite parts.

Writer's Workshop πŸ–Š
This week in Writer's Workshop we will begin our unit on small moment narrative writing by discussing how lives are full of stories to tell.
