We continue to write reviews in Writer's Workshop! We LOVE to share our work with our classmates! ✏
This week we started the "Who Would Win" March Madness style project, created by Mrs. Ivatt's 4th grade class! We loved learning about many different endangered species of animals and voting on our favorites! We can't wait to see what animals will go onto the next round of competition! π
Last week the ST Math "March Mathness" project began! We worked SO hard to solve our puzzles! π
We couldn't let science and math have all the March Madness fun! This past week we started the "March Book Madness" competition! Some of our favorite read alouds will be competing against each other for the prestigious title of "Book of the Year"! We can't wait to see who will win! π
We had so much fun on Friday watching the dancers from the Harney Academy of Irish Dance perform! We especially LOVED cheering on our classmate, Olivia! Way to go Olivia! Room 114 is SO proud of you!!! π
Thank you to Mrs. Meleger who organized an amazing craft for us on Friday! We loved designing and decorating our very own picture frames! Are you interested in volunteering in our classroom to help out with projects or activities? Just reach out! We would LOVE to have you!

FUNdations
This week in FUNdations we will continue to practice the concepts presented in unit 10 of our program! We will be read words with up to 5 sounds! We will also practice how to read words with the suffixes -s, -ed, -ing. Stump, clasp, strap, slashing and blended are just a few examples of the types of words that we will be learning how to read and spell! We will also practice reading and spelling the trick words: any, many, how, now, down, out, about and our.
Reader's Workshop π
In Reader's Workshop this week we will continue to learn about effective reading strategies. We will talk about how readers use new tools to read hard words. We will discuss how readers think about the story to problem-solve words, think about what kind of word would fit and slow down to break up long words.
Writer's Workshop π
We will continue to write reviews this week in Writer's Workshop! This week we will learn how to make comparisons in our writing. We will also learn about ways to hook our readers with catchy introductions and conclusions.

In math we will continue to explore geometry concepts through games and hands on learning opportunities!
