It was a busy week in Room 114 as we finished our FUndations, Readers and Writer's Workshop units and wrapped up our March Madness themed competitions! I hope all of my Room 114 friends have the best week off!
Trying out a new greeting in Morning Meeting! π¦
In math we are working SO hard to show our thinking while problem solving! Keep up the amazing work mathematicians!
In Number Corner this week we practiced measuring with nonstandard units!
On Friday, thanks to the Boyden PAC, Odaiko New England presented Taiko Thunder, presented by the Arts for Learning Massachusetts, to our school.
Odaiko New England introduced students to the Japanese drum or Taiko. Through storytelling and drumming, this energetic and engaging program taught students about how this very special instrument is woven into many aspects of Japanese history and culture. Students also learned some elements of playing taiko and some students participated in putting these elements into practice as they join the performers on stage to experience the thrill and power of Taiko drumming. Ask your children all about it!
Mr. Dearborn made a special guest appearance during the performance!
Congratulations to Jonathan who was invited to the stage to play a Taiko!
On Friday, Room 114 wrapped up our March Book Madness competition and voted for the 2023 book of the year! π
The official ballot!
Casting our votes!
The big reveal!
Sports Day fun!
During a special assembly on Friday, our class was recognized for reaching 100% of our class ST Math journey! I could not be more proud and impressed by the effort of so many of the students to persevere through their ST Math puzzles and complete their journeys! If your child has not yet reached 100% completion, we will continue to work hard in school to get them there! Keep up the spectacular work ST Math superstars!
