It was another busy and fun week in Room 114! We started our second unit in FUNdations, grew our reading stamina in Reader's Workshop, and learned a new game in math! Keep up the amazing work Room 114! You are rocking first grade! ❤

Last week we learned a new Morning Meeting greeting called, "Do You Know Our Classmate?"

We put the "fun" in FUNdations! We LOVED using the Touchview and having a snowball fight to practice some of the skills we have been learning through our phonics program!

We are really building our stamina in Reader's Workshop! Way to go readers! 

Getting ready for Open House/Curriculum Night! 

Thank you to our Digital Learning Coach, Mrs. Carroll for teaching us all about how to be a good Digital Citizen!

The children are ROCKING ST Math!!! Keep solving those puzzles mathematicians! 

I LOVE to see the students enjoying a good book together during arrival time! Way to go readers!

We love playing the game, "What's Changed?" during Morning Meeting!

During Quiet Time last week we started to travel to different places around the world! So far we have seen the beautiful landscapes of Brazil and Ireland! I can't wait to see where we will go next!

On Thursday we had our first SEL lesson of the year with Mrs. Audet! During our 30 minute session with her, we learned more about what she does as a school counselor and how she can help and support us! We are so excited to have lessons with Mrs. Audet every other week this year! 

We are getting very crafty and creative during our daily Quiet Time!

On Friday we took a trip to the Media Center and checked out our first book of the new school year! Library books are due every other week. I will send out a reminder the night before they are due!

FUNdations

This week in FUNdations we will really dive into unit 2 of our program. In this unit we will review and practice how to read and spell short vowel words like job, fix, quit etc. If you are looking for a bit more information about our second unit please feel free to click here.

Reader's Workshop 📚

This week in Reader's Workshop we will talk about how readers build good habits for solving words. We will also discuss how sticking to good habits takes practice and how reading partners can build good reading habits together.

Writer's Workshop 🖊

This week in Writer's Workshop we will learn about how to write a small moment story and will start writing one of our very own!
