It's hard to believe that it is October already! Time sure is flying! The children have done a fabulous job over the last month settling into first grade procedures and expectations! I couldn't be more proud of the effort and enthusiasm that they put forth each day! I look forward to another wonderful week of learning fun in Room 114! 🙂
We learned a new Morning Meeting greeting last week!
Using whiteboards in FUNdations to practice our letter formation, sentence writing and application of learned phonics rules!
In Science last week we started our unit on animals! Our first lesson focused on parent and offspring traits. Ask your child the question, "How can you help a lost baby animal find its parent?" to see what they learned!
We continue to build our reading stamina in Reader's Workshop! Last week we used an online digital library to practice reading books with short vowels! The children did an awesome job! Way to go readers! Is your child interested in accessing this resource at home? If so, click here!
We are ROCKING our ST Math puzzles! Many children have already far exceeded the September puzzle progress goal of 8% completion! I am truly blown away by the motivation, perseverance, teamwork and enthusiasm that I am observing! Way to go Mathematicians!
In Writer's Workshop last week we started our first unit, which focuses on narrative, small moment stories! Ask your child what small moment they have decided to write about!
In math on Friday we had a blast practicing our measuring skills! Ask your child what non-standard unit of measurement we used and what we measured to learn more!
Things are getting very creative during our Free Choice Friday!
