The first 2 days of first grade in Room 114 were INCREDIBLE! The children have quickly settled into our routines and expectations! I am so proud of each and every child for putting forth their best effort! We have a very busy and exciting week coming up! We will be starting our phonics, reading, writing and math programs! I look forward to our 4 day week together! 😊 #bestyearever! #partyanimalsinroom114!
Happy New (school) Year! 🎊
On Wednesday, after reading the book, "All Are Welcome," we made All About Us bracelets to learn more about each other! Ask your child what each bead on their bracelet represents! 🔑
We had so much fun on Wednesday reading, "Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes"! At the end of the book Pete left us a special note, which sent us on a scavenger hunt of the school to find him! Ask your child where Pete was hiding the whole time!
Getting to know our classmates better through play!
Our read alouds this week focused on welcoming the children into our classroom and building our Room 114 class family! ❤ #ourclassisafamily
There's nothing like ending the second day of school with a getting to know you snowball fight! Ask your child about what was written on our snowballs and how we used them to get to know each other a bit better! ❄
Best 1st day ever! 🥳

FUNdations ✏
FUNdations is the phonics program we teach daily in our classroom. This week we will start Unit 1! In Unit 1 we will be setting the stage for all of the future units. We will be reviewing and teaching the letter names, keywords, sounds and lowercase letter formations of the letters a-z.
Reader's Workshop 📚
This week in Reader's Workshop we will start to talk about how readers take a sneak peek to get ready to read. We will also discuss how when readers finish a book they do something. This could mean stopping and remembering the book, looking back and thinking the book over, telling someone about the book or going back to favorite parts.
Writer's Workshop 🖊
This week in Writer's Workshop we will begin our unit on small moment narrative writing by discussing how lives are full of stories to tell.
Math 🖩
In math this week we will be counting, collecting and graphing data!
Science/Social Studies 🌎
This week in science and social studies we will learn about who invented school. We will also learn about the job of a scientist.
