It was another very productive and fun week in first grade! In FUNdations we continued to tap, read, and write words with bonus letters and glued sounds, in Writer's Workshop we started to publish our "Small Moment Stories" and in Science we learned all about the parts of a pumpkin! I hope all of my Room 114 friends are having a fabulous, fun-filled weekend! I can't wait to see everyone on Monday! 😀
🌟Star Student🌟
Congratulations to Elijah who was our Star Student last week! We loved learning more about Elijah from his All About Me poster and from the pictures that he brought from home! Keep up the awesome work Elijah! You are such an important and valued member of our Room 114 family! ❤
Every child will have the opportunity to be a Star Student in our classroom this year! It is such a wonderful way to celebrate and honor each child! Star Students are selected at random every Thursday afternoon. When it's your child's turn to be a Star Student they will come home on Thursday afternoon with their letter of congratulations and a description of what their reign of Star Student will entail! Keep shining bright Stars of Room 114! ⭐
This past week our amazingly talented Technology Specialist, Mrs. Carroll helped us to record our very first Podcast! It was an incredible experience for all and the children did an outstanding job! Be on the lookout for more "Party Animal Podcasts" coming soon!
Last week we started using an online program called Seesaw to share what we were learning in reading! Be on the lookout for more information about Seesaw soon to see what your child has been working on!
The children continue to rock ST Math! Most students are already way above the puzzle goal for November! Keep up the incredible effort Mathematicians! If you would like to know how your child is doing with ST Math in the classroom, just reach out! I can tell you where they are in their JiJi Journey!
Last week we read the book, "The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin" and talked about how we all have qualities that make us different and special! The children then wrote about what makes them unique!
We LOVED dissecting and exploring the parts of a pumpkin last week in Science!
The children continue to work SO hard in FUNdations to apply the phonics rules we are learning to their reading and writing!
During our visit with Mrs. Audet this past week we read the book, "The Skin You Live In" and discussed how we are all different and differences should be respected and celebrated!
