It was another busy and fun week in Room 114! We started our Word Detectives unit in Reader's Workshop, continued to grow our understandings of fractions and doubles facts in math and learned all about the important holiday of Veteran's Day in Social Studies! I look forward to the week ahead and can't wait to see what new learning we will do and what new fun we will have! 🙂

🌟Star Student🌟

Congratulations to Ben who was our Star Student last week! We loved learning more about Ben from his All About Me poster and from the pictures that he brought from home! Keep up the awesome work Ben! You are such an important and valued member of our Room 114 family! ❤

Last week we kicked off Unit 2 in Reader's Workshop! This unit encourages us to be "word detectives" and to use the strategies taught to figure out words we may not know! 🔍

Last week we played a few new games in math to practice the skills we are learning! Keep up the great work mathematicians! 👍 #teamworkmakesthedreamwork!

On Friday we had a very special visit from Mrs. Rinaldi and JiJi the ST Math penguin! 🐧

Last week we learned all about the important holiday of Veteran's Day. To honor those who have served our country, we wrote a letter to a veteran we know and made cards for veterans at a nearby Veteran's Hospital. This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect to our community.

Our first two Star Student books were published this week! Way to go Room 114! Watching you celebrate and support each other is truly amazing! I am one proud teacher! ⭐

FUNdations

This week in FUNdations we will begin unit 5 in our program, which will focus on blending, segmenting, reading and spelling words with the glued sounds -am and -an. If you are interested in learning more, please click here!

Reader's Workshop 📚

This week in Reader's Workshop we will really dive into our unit on being "word detectives!" We will look closely at word endings, notice and understand new vocabulary words and zoom in closely to notice details. Writer's Workshop 🖊

In Writer's Workshop this week we will continue to edit and publish one of our Small Moment Stories! At the end of the week we will have our first "Writer's Celebration" and share our work with our classmates!

Math 🖩
