 It was so wonderful to have our Room 114 family back together after a week away! The children continue to work SO hard each and everyday! Keep up the fabulous job first graders! 🙂

Over the last week some Room 114 friends started to learn about geography tools during Reader's Workshop! On Friday these friends presented what they learned to the class!

Friday was JiJi the ST Math penguins birthday! To celebrate we tried to solve as many ST Math puzzles as possible! Happy Birthday, JiJi!

FUNdations

This week in FUNdations we will begin unit 12 in our program, which focuses on reading and spelling multi-syllabic words and compound words. Examples of these types of words would be: sunset, finish and reptile! Throughout this unit we will also practice reading and spelling 8 new trick words!

Reader's Workshop 📚

This week in Reader's Workshop we will begin a new unit, which will focus on understanding the characters and the lessons in the stories that we read. This week we will talk about how readers preview the stories they are about to enjoy, when reading you should use the story line to predict what will happen next and readers retell what they have read to remember the story.

Writer's Workshop 🖊

In Writer's Workshop this week we will wrap up our unit on opinion writing!

Math 🖩

This week we will continue to explore Unit 7 in our math program, which focuses on place value concepts.

Science

"Why do the stars come out at night?" is the question that we will answer this week in science to learn more about stars and daily patterns.
