It was a busy week in Room 114! We continued to make great progress in our Writer's Workshop, FUNdations, math, Reader's Workshop and science units! I hope all of my Room 114 friends had a wonderful weekend! 😊

This week we read the book, "Piglet Comes Home" and learned all about the real-life dog Piglet who despite his challenges lives his life with a positive attitude! We will continue to talk about the importance of having a growth or "Piglet" mindset to achieve our goals and live our best lives! #pigletpower!

Room 114 now has our very own stuffed Piglet to remind us of the importance of perseverance and a positive mindset! Be on the lookout for a video read aloud of "Piglet Comes Home" coming soon!
In addition to learning all about Piglet and his inspirational story, this week we also started to incorporate a "morning mindset mantra" to start our day on a positive note and set ourselves up for success!

FUNdations
This week in FUNdations we will continue to practice the skills presented in unit 12 in our program, which focuses on reading and spelling multi-syllabic words and compound words. Examples of these types of words would be: sunset, finish and reptile! Throughout this unit we will also practice reading and spelling 8 new trick words!
Reader's Workshop 📚
This week in Reader's Workshop we will continue to focus on understanding the characters and the lessons in the stories that we read. This week we will talk about how readers preview the stories they are about to enjoy, when reading you should use the story line to predict what will happen next and readers retell what they have read to remember the story.
Math 🖩
This week we will continue to explore Unit 7 in our math program, which focuses on place value concepts.
Science
"Why do the stars come out at night?" is the question that we will answer this week in science to learn more about stars and daily patterns.
