Literacy Centers
Over the last few weeks we have been incorporating learning centers into our literacy time! Our literacy learning centers provide students with additional opportunities to practice the skills we are learning in class! Students are invited to participate in centers once seatwork activities are completed. Seatwork includes targeted phonic skills practice, journal writing opportunities and a chance for students to complete any unfinished work they may have! Our centers have been created to provide children with additional enrichment opportunities. There are many centers available for students to complete each week! It is common for students to not complete all of the provided centers as they may be using some of the allotted center time to complete seatwork, finish unfinished work or meet with me in a reading group. The children have been doing an excellent job of completing center activities! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have regarding literacy centers in our classroom!
Literacy
This week in Literacy we will be reading the story, A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting. Through reading this story we will continue to discuss our unit question, “How can we work together?” We will also discuss our weekly question, “How can we contribute to a celebration?” This week we will also be reviewing the genre of Animal Fantasy, reading words with long a (a, ai, ay), drawing conclusions and visualizing while reading.
Math
This week in math we will be identifying numbers that come before and after, adding 10 more and 10 less, determining even and odd numbers, and using data from a chart to problem solve.
Star Student
Congratulations to Ethan who was our Star Student last week! We loved learning more about Ethan from his All About Me poster and from the pictures that he brought in from home! Keep up the amazing work Ethan! :)
