Literacy
This week in Literacy we will be reading the story, One Dark Night by Hazel Hutchins. Through reading
this story we will continue to answer the unit question, “What does it mean to be responsible?” We will
also address the weekly question, “Why should we take care of animals?” This week in literacy we will
also be reviewing the genre of Realistic Fiction, reading words with prefixes un-, re-, pre- and dis-,
applying the comprehension strategy of context clues, sequencing the events of a story and using graphic
organizers to organize our ideas while reading and writing.
Last week we started biography projects in school! The children did a fantastic job of using a text to
research a very important person from history! Ask your child to tell you who they are researching in
school and what fun facts they have learned from their biographies!
A few of our Biography Projects!
Math
In math we will continue to practice three-digit subtraction! Last week we learned a new number line strategy for subtraction that seemed to be very helpful for many students! Ask your child to show you this strategy and explain to you how it works!
A little April Fools Day fun! A word search with none of the listed words in it! ;)
Star Student!
Congratulations to Brendan who was our Star Student last week! We loved learning more about Brendan from his All About Me poster and from the pictures that he brought from home! Keep up the amazing work Brendan! :)
