October 28, 2017

Happy Saturday! I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend and enjoys a safe and happy Halloween on Tuesday!

Browsing at the Scholastic Book Fair!

Math
This week in math we will finish our short unit on working with equal groups by exploring and building arrays and computing number sentences that use repeated addition! We will also begin to learn about the 8's fact family this week!

Literacy
This week in Literacy we will be reading the story, Ronald Morgan Goes to Bat by Patricia Reilly Giff. Through reading this story we will continue to discuss the unit question, “How can we work together?” We will also discuss the weekly question, “What makes a team?” This week we will also be reviewing the genre of Realistic Fiction, learning about contractions, identifying realism and fantasy and applying prior knowledge to the texts we are reading.

We had so much fun on Thursday celebrating filling our bead jar by having a
"candlelit" lunch in the classroom!

This week we started to learn all about growth mindset with a Class Dojo video! Ask your child to tell you about how their brain is like a muscle and the magic of mistakes to see what they have learned so far about this very important topic!
