Literacy
Due to a short week, we will continue to read, A Walk in the Desert by Caroline Arnold this week! We will take our spelling test on endings -ing and -ed with base word changes this Friday!
Media
On Friday we took our very first trip of the school year to the Media Center! We had so much fun using our "I Pick" strategy to select interesting books! Second graders are allowed to take out two library books as long as they are returned each week by Friday morning! Happy Reading! :)
Math
We have been having so much fun in math learning new concepts and skills in guided learning groups and math centers! This week we will begin to explore Topic 3 in our math curriculum which focuses on subtraction strategies!
Digital Citizenship Lessons with Mrs. Carroll!
On Wednesday and Thursday Mrs. Carroll, our new Technology Specialist, visited our classroom to teach us all about internet safety! She also took us on a "Virtual Field Trip" to the San Diego Zoo in California! We had so much fun viewing the "Live Cams" of a few different San Diego Zoo animals! Ask your child what their favorite animal we saw was and what they need to do to stay safe online to see what they have learned!
Social Studies
We ended our busy week with a Christopher Columbus craftivity in anticipation of the Columbus Day holiday on Monday!
