Last week in Room 118 was full of learning fun! We wrapped up our unit on the continents and oceans in Social Studies, learned how to add three-digit numbers in math and practiced spelling trick words using a choice board in FUNdations! I look forward to another wonderful week in second grade!
On Tuesday we learned more about Martin Luther King Jr. and his "I Have a Dream" speech.

FUNdations ✏
This week in FUNdations we will begin unit 9 in our program which will focus on r-controlled vowels er, ir, and ur.
Reader's Workshop 📚
We will continue to ramp up our reading power in Reader's Workshop by noticing when authors play with words, and reading as a writer to focus on specific language.
Writer's Workshop 🖊
We will continue to learn about poetry in Writer's Workshop by identifying the mood of a poem and using comparisons to clarify feelings and ideas.
Math 🖩
In math this week we will use logical reasoning to solve addition word problems, subtract multiples of 100 from a 3-digit number, explore subtracting 3-digit numbers with regrouping and subtract across zeros. We will also continue to learn and apply math fact strategies to build our addition and subtraction math fact fluency.
Science/Social Studies 🌎
This week in science we will begin our unit on the power of water.
