January 22, 2023

Last week in Room 114 was full of learning fun! We wrapped up our unit on glued sounds in FUNdations, wrote up a storm in Writer's Workshop, continued to learn about Nonfiction reading strategies in Reader's Workshop and finished our science unit on animals! I can't wait for another wonderful week in first grade! 🙂

We are having a blast participating in our new Morning Meeting greeting, "Who Threw the Snowball in the Snowball Fight"! ❄

During our lesson with Mrs. Tilton this week we talked about making mistakes and how we want to learn and grow from the mistakes we make! We listened to the book, "Beautiful Ooops" and completed a special project where we turned mistakes into something beautiful!

We continue to make incredible progress with our ST Math puzzles and are still leading the pack for the whole school! Way to go mathematicians!

One of our lessons in Reader's Workshop this week focused on sharing our Nonfiction books with a classmate!

Last week we wrapped up our science unit on animals by inviting Mrs. Buchanio's kindergarten class to come into Room 114 and find the moths we had hidden around the room as a part of our last activity on camouflage!

Friday was a very special morning as we welcomed a very special Boyden friend to school. 💚

🌟Star Student🌟
Congratulations to Saoirse who was our Star Student last week! We loved learning more about Saoirse from her All About Me poster and from the pictures that she brought from home! Keep up the awesome work Saoirse! You are such an important and valued member of our Room 114 family! ❤

Our focus will continue to be on the genre of nonfiction in Writer's Workshop! This week we will use our audience to revise, set writing goals for ourselves and will edit our work!

In math we will continue to practice adding and subtracting on a number line through fun games and activities.

Thank you so much for all of your
